Q: What do you admire in Stevenson?
A: I admire everything in Stevenson. I admire the man, I admire the work, I admire his courage. I don’t think he ever wrote a single indifferent or despicable line. Every line of Stevenson is fine… I suppose I should be thankful to Stevenson.  I suppose we all should be thankful to Stevenson. I hardly see why you ask me that. The thing is as obvious as the sun in heaven.

Jorge Luis Borges, extolling the virtues of RLS in conversation with Donald Yates.
